Bucks County Challenge Day 2010 Print

Sunday 3rd October 2010

Today the Bucks Scouts Team Challenge was held at Braid Wood campsite. MK Enigma sent a 20 strong team consisting of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts from across the district with Charlotte Miles representing 1st Bletchley Scouts.

The day started out early from Bletchley Bus Station at 7:30am. Arriving at RAF Halton about 8:30am; the day’s activities kicked off with a hike from RAF Halton through Wendover woods to Braid Wood campsite.

After lunch the activities continued with tent pitching; riffle shooting; pioneering; creative actives and orienteering. The real highlight of the day came when the event was visited by the Chief Scout himself, Bear Grylls.

On a tight schedule, Bear did his best to make his way around the camp site, visiting the youngsters participating in the various activities, before he flew off to Heathrow to catch a trans-Atlantic flight. Fortunately Charlotte was able to impress Bear with her cooking of a ‘Mini’ Full English Breakfast cooked upon a tin can; Well Done Charlotte!

The day finished back where it had started, arriving at Bletchley Bus Station about 7:30pm.

All in all it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all, despite all the mud and rain!
